Most of us have a wide range of tasks we have to do in normal week. It might study or reading if we are are student. It might be marking reports if we are a teacher.

Once I believed that the use of Super Learning Music was limited to education.

But once I realized that whenever I wanted a calm, incisive, clear-thinking mind, was the time for Super Learning Music.

For example – one of my other businesses about Business Building & Coaching. That site is Townsville Business Coach.

I was working on building some Yellow Pages adverts for clients – and I needed to think clearly and at several different levels. Playing the music eased me into a relaxed alpha state – the copy just flowed.

I play it while I am driving, and when I arrive I now notice how calm and imperturbable I feel.

The key to successful use is to play it at a level just loud enough to hear.

You can purchase this music either on CD or in MP3. MP3 is more and more popular as it costs less, is immediately delivered, and is easy. The CD is great as a gift, or as a back-up. Sadly, sometimes MP3 players die!

Cheers

"Discover The Simple Secret To Faster Reading or Learning in Your Life!"

Many years ago I bought a course called Photoreading. Prior to that I did a ’speedreading’ course called Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics.

In the meantime I have read or studied at least 20 different speed learning systems. All of these worked for me. I am pretty lazy – so I only want to do as little ‘work’ as possible. What I have found is there is a common structure to evolving our learning systems to be more efficient. Each course follows the general path to ‘perturbation’ as described in the video from Marshall Thurber below.

Before you watch the video – remember that before reading or watching anything – choose what you would like to get from the item. For example some great goals from watching the video might be:

- Get an unstanding of the framework of HOW things evolve to more sophisticated structures that can cope with a higher rate of learning

- See and understand the basics on how to “speed read”

- Get some skills that you can apply to anywhere

OK – now watch Marshall – who is a very cool dude, who has worked with several of the people who have had extraordinary impact on our planet.

One analogy for me is when you have been driving on the highway at pretty high speeds for a reasonable time, and then there is a very low speed limit. It seems incredibly slow and I have lots of time to take in tons of detail.

The flip side is when you first start to drive way too fast – you cant take all the data in. Then it gets easier, and driving at that rate becomes ‘normal’. [I am not saying it is ok to speed on the highway!] Your brain has evolved [or been 'perturbed'] to a higher level system. This sort of also answers the questions about whether comprehension goes down when we read really quickly.

Naturally you will be playing your Superlearning Music at 60 beats to do any learning most easily.

Please post your ideas and insights [or even disagree if you do!] in the comments below.

If we are going to learn and develop we may as well do it with as little waste and as few constraints as possible.

Cheers

James

Today I was listening to a course on becoming more effective – in anything.

It reviewed the ideas of a path to learning – starting with Unconscious Incompetenence, then Conscious Incompetence, then Conscious Competence, and finally Unconscious Competence. So – in terms of reading – You dont know that you cant read, then you know that you cant read, then you can read by focusing and working to read, then you read without thinking.

The idea of overlearning was that we can choose to reach to or past the the level of unconscious competence. We have the ability to select skills to reach this level. My son reads as fast as I do, which is quite fast. He is nine years old. At an early stage we (he and I) decided that it would be great to be able to read really really well – and as fast as he wanted. Which is what we did. Now his school work is a doddle for him.

The same principle can be applied to anything. If you learn to juggle – then dont stop practicing when you can just do it ‘OK”. Keep going until you can do it with your eyes closed [almost]. That is assuming that you have chosen this as a key skill to ‘overlearn’.

Most of the time we learn stuff or skills – and when we get to an OK level – we stop improving. We either move on to a new skill or project, or we just allow ourselves to get a bit bored – or just decide not to get any better at it.

A key point to learning is that if we start with the expectation of at least unconscious competence as our standard – that is what we will get. Then once we reach this level – it is more available and more useful in our futures.

How many people out there are OK typists? Either chicken pecking or just going really slowly? This might be one of the skills that is worth overlearning. If you are going to be using a keyboard as a major part of your communication strategy – why on earth would you not choose to become superb at it? If you could type 3 times faster than you do now – what impact would it have on your productivity and power? Also – if you choose to be a slow typist – you are telling your brain it is ok to go slowly so your fingers can keep up.

Is the output side to slow reading. Some people still believe that reading slowly gives better comprehension – which you know is not true. If you dont know that – get on the Superlearn 101 Newsletter. I wonder if the same people who type slowly are also slow readers. Perhaps believing that slow typing is more accurate or easier to read? Ok that is a bit harsh – but – the principle of choosing skills to overlearn is a powerful one.

Your list of things to overlearn can come from your work, your study, or your play. There will be a massive benefit when you choose a talent or skill or overlearn – nail it – and move to the next one. Dont stop at being just consciously competent – go way beyond! Make your list and feel free to post below.

After beginning our adventures on the internet in 1996, when we were using Compuserve classifieds ads, we have finally jumped into the 21st century.

On this site, which is a Wordpress driven blog site using a lovely template called Thesis, our plan is to increase the value we offer for those interested in Superlearning and Accelerated Learning generally.

Our first challenge is to offer the MP3 version of our now classic Superlearning & Relaxation Music CD. Using a WP plugin called Wishlist Member – this should be fairly simple – and completed tomorrow.

Also on the list is the uploading of a valuable mini-course on accelerated and superlearning. Why would anyone not want to increase their learning skills?

Not far off is a series of videos that will give clear instruction and examples of how to master our learning skills.
